PR - Study: Conferencing in Telecom Services Asks Enterprises to 'Do As I Say'

Seventh of industry reports on audio, web, video conferencing shows users in telecom services industries rely most on audio conferences: frequency of audio and web conferencing to grow significantly

Northborough, MA December 11, 2007 - Brockmann and Company released its latest customer insight report on the role of face-to-face meetings and audio, web and video conferencing in the conduct of business in the telecom, wireless, VoIP, cable and Internet services industries. The report, entitled "Conferencing in The Telecom Services Industries" is available for a limited time for free download on http://www.brockmann.com.

Peter Brockmann, President of Brockmann & Company said, "Most surprising was the expectation for growth. Nearly two-thirds of users (57%) expected the frequency of audio conferences to increase in 2008 as compared to 2007 and half expected the frequency of web conferences to increase."

This emphasis on audio and web conferencing is surprising since the telecom services industry will be one of the biggest benefactors from the rapidly growing interest in high definition video conferencing and telepresence experiences. "HD and telepresence applications will be driving enormous bandwidth acquisition in the near term, but this report suggests that many users in telecom services companies aren't 'eating their own dogfood,'" Brockmann added.

Video conferencing in these industries were less important. Only 16% rated room-based video conferencing as very important.
