Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) is More Than a Financing Option

Report Points To Where The Value of Unique Packaging Option Exists

May 17, 2007 - Northborough MA - Brockmann & Company, the customer insight analyst firm released its latest report entlted "Hardware-as-a-Service: A New Architectural Option for Enterprise IT Services." Based on an assessment of the evolution of packaging in the high technology industry, Peter Brockmann, the report's author said, "HaaS has to be more than simply distributing the cost of hardware over its useful life as in a leasing arrangement. From our perspective it combines the functionality of appliances with service delivery and a service center function."

The report goes on to compare the more popular appliance and software-as-a-service packaging with HaaS and defines the category to include both the processing of local content in the appliance as locally deployed hardware, a service center that adds value by delivering zero-hour type instant response services, and a delivery service that proactively manages systems integrity. The key promise of what HaaS will do is through the statistical analysis of the real-time operational experiences of hundreds or thousands of appliances in real-time settings using operational meta data. This enables more refined predictive capabilities for security and preventative maintenance.

The report is available for free download at http://www.brockmann.com.
